After a lot of time thinking about different stool leg designs we made this prototype of a leg.
You can just about see the jig in the background to plane the faces of the dowel to meet at an angle. The dowels are then pinned together with smaller through dowels.
After cutting yet another circle out of a piece of plywood and maybe not taking enough photos we have a prototype
At this point it would be fair to say we were pretty pleased with how it came out.
Except for testing how rotating the wedges would look.
Even better it looks like it can take some weight…
So the next step is to order some Oak and Sapele to have a go at making a final version.

We recently won first prize for ‘most innovative design’ in the inaugural Take a Mallet to a Pallet competition at Blackhorse Workshop. The challenge was to rework a pallet to create a new object or piece of art. Our entry was a pair of pendant lamps created from steam bent strips of pallet.

This month we are delighted to see the launch of the MMG lighting range, which we have designed and produced in collaboration with Mini Moderns for their Remix event at East London Design Store.
We have produced a special edition of the 490 LED desk lamp for the London Transport Museum, as part of the celebrations commemorating 150 years of the London Underground.
